So Star Trek was AWESOME as FUCK. I seriously had a stupid grin on my face through the entire movie. The characters! My boys! They're still them! And that's all I really wanted.

Beyond that, though, it was just an all-around great movie. Paced well, nice tight story, good writing, beautiful effects, exciting action sequences, all that good stuff.

AND SLASH LIKE WHOA. Which I was certainly hoping they'd retain from the original serious, so I'm very glad for that. I'm so happy that there will finally be brand-new Kirk/Spock fic! Yay yay yay!

I really, really want more movies in this franchise. GO SEE THIS MOVIE, PEOPLE. GIVE IT YOUR MONEY SO THEY WILL MAKE MANY MORE.

I haven't seen tonight's SPN yet, as we were already on our way to the theatre. I hear it's heartwrenching. We shall see as soon as it's downloaded.

SPN as the reader's choice on the Must List! Yay! Also SPN making the list of top twenty most DVR-ed shows!

Pine and Quinto's relationship described as "bromancy!" I suddenly have renewed hope for the new Star Trek movie!

And, finally, if anyone hasn't seen this yet (yeah, I'm a little behind the times on this one), GO WATCH IT - it's good stuff: Take On Me: Literal Video Version

ALSO: I'm currently working on a podfic of one of my very favorite stories ever by one of my very favorite authors ever...AND IT IS TOTALLY MAKING ME FALL IN LOVE WITH JARED AND JENSEN ALL OVER AGAIN. I MEAN SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS. CAPSLOCK SQUEE. FOR REAL. I LOVE THEM SO SO VERY VERY MUCH I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN IT RIGHT NOW. I HAD TO GO TROLL YOUTUBE FOR VIDS OF THEM BEING ADORABLE AND AWESOME JUST TO FEED THE CRAVING. LUCKILY THEY ARE ADORABLE AND/OR AWESOME AT EVERY MOMENT OF THEIR WAKING LIVES, SO IT WASN'T HARD TO FIND. OMG SERIOUSLY HOW AM I EVEN GOING TO WAIT UNTIL THURSDAY????

*end incoherent and slightly insane fangirl squee*

Seriously, though. I would still be recording right now if my throat didn't hurt. I think I may have found my calling in life. Anyone know how I can make a living as a podficcer?

Ah, Kirk/Spock, how obvious you are! Wrath of Khan was on HBO tonight, and, as it's been years since I've seen it, it was almost like watching it for the first time. What a death scene! You will never be able to convince me that those two aren't in love. This is why I love fandom. Without fandom, things are good - good movie, good tv show, good book. With fandom, however, things become awesome. Everything is made that much better! And now I can go merrily off through the internet, reading fic. Come on, how cool is that?

ETA: I'm in the middle of this fic, and I'm reading an about-to-be-sex scene, and something struck me as worth noting. As much as I love reading sex, that's not what brings me the most joy in a fic. It's when the author gets the character exactly right. The image of Spock removing his boots and setting them "tidily against the wall" made me absolutely spasm with happiness at the sheer perfection of it. I suppose that's because I'm usually aware, at some level, that I'm reading a mere approximation of the character, a version at best. But sometimes, in the very best fic, that feeling goes away, and I'm reading the real version. That's the real Spock, right there, and having that sense makes what follows so, so much better. It's what sets truly great fanfiction away from the masses of mediocrity.

You know, only a fangirl could interpret a Star Trek episode like this:

"Patterns of Force" (airing order: Episode 53)
Also known as "Patterns of Chest Hair." Yes, it's a crime that this is the only episode where Spock takes his shirt off, because, yum. But hey, at least he runs around for half the episode without managing to find another one -- and there's flogging. Not to mention sweaty clambering around on one another's nekkidness to break out of jail. There's the 'I trust you to cut me' numminess as well, but the best, of course, is the bit where the Nazi interrogator hits Kirk, and it's Spock who flinches. Very nice.

...I wonder what all those rabid fanboys would say?
