Anyone know what the drama was in ontd_spnparty? I'm curious, but not curious enough to go through the whole post.

Also, True Blood tonight was AMAZING. I highly approve of the increased level of gay.

God damn. When the Torchwood fandom decides to wank, my GOD do they wank! I am frightened and actually pretty glad I wasn't around for the particular incident I've been reading about. More proof that the SPN fandom is not special in this respect: ALL BIG FANDOMS CAN BE BATSHIT CRAZY.

Also, I've written 12k in the last twelve hours. My writing muscles hurt. I'm going to try for 2k more before bed and then a 10k day tomorrow. If I can do that, I win. And then I'll promptly collapse, my fingers frozen into permanent claws. Wish me luck!

Regardless, there remains the fact that except for those few moments and a bit of flirting early on, up until the last episode most of the time Jack and Ianto are almost doing the antithesis of what in other shows creates slashy vibes between people who never had and never will have an on-screen kiss or any kind of relationship in canon. No looks, no touches, no standing in each other's space. Except for Cyberwoman, the first time they're even on screen together for any length of time is Combat.

I find this point to be incredibly interesting. From this perspective, Sam and Dean are WAY slashier than Jack and Ianto, at least in TW S1. It speaks to the difference between slash and actually portraying same-gender relationships on screen. We often use the term interchangeably for convenience's sake, but that's not really accurate, at least in my mind. If the characters are actually shown to be in a relationship, it's not slash. And though I do dearly, dearly love seeing same-gender relationships on screen (I CANNOT STRESS THIS POINT ENOUGH: I LOVE IT), I think slash is ultimately more fun. Sam and Dean (and Jared and Jensen, for that matter) have eternal possibilities: any number of first kisses, for example, in endless different scenarios. Because we haven't seen it, we're free to create it.

And thus ends my extremely lame bit of late-night meta.

Also: apparently Torchwood is SERIOUS BUSINESS. Here I was thinking it was just this fun, pretty, and awesome but ultimately pretty shallow show, and people are actually sitting down and pulling philosophy out of it. Kudos, I say, from a fellow philosophy buff, but...wow, I just did not get that AT ALL.

Wow, lots of hate towards the SPN fandom in f_s lately.

Part of me feels bad for them - they have no idea how much awesome they're missing out on.

On the other hand...those are also the people who cause wank.

Also, to the person who wanted to ask Wincest fans to imagine RL incest and see how many of them got sick at the thought...I think you'd be surprised. People get turned on by dirtybadwrongness. There's really not a whole lot of things that count as that anymore. Incest is one. I'm not saying that Wincest fans actually want to sleep with their family members...just that I wouldn't be surprised if some of us like to call out “Daddy” in bed.

A quick synopsis:

This? Is stupid. For one, there is absolutely no reason to think this is what was meant by that spoiler that said ( Spoiler... ) is in reference to those particular characters.

Secondly...I don't really care. It's SPN, people. The show goes to some pretty dark places. Hell, and that's not even CLOSE to as bad as we get in our fanfiction! Come on. Man up. Let's say Sam does fuck Ruby. It's not the end of the world. I find it highly, highly unlikely that this would be condoned in the show. Sam has been getting progressively more...I don't want to say evil...perhaps leaning in a less-than-good direction this season? I see this as something he could realistically do, especially in a moment of strong emotion, grief or anger or whatnot. But condoning it? Dean would be pissed beyond belief - in fact, I could even see that as being the motivating factor for him to finally "turn on" Sam, in a sense. It's a perfectly fine plot device, people. Chill.

Thirdly...I hate how people can profess endless love for Dean/Castiel and then flip the fuck out over Sam/Ruby. IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME, PEOPLE. In fact...Dean/Castiel could even be seen as worse, because if the angel possession works just the same way as the demon version, that vessel is dead. Which makes it not rape, but necrophelia. So there.*

Basically, my point is, yet again: CHILL THE FUCK OUT. STOP BEING SO DAMN JUDGEMENTAL OF EVENTS THAT HAVEN'T EVEN TAKEN PLACE YET AND POSSIBLY NEVER WILL.

PS: I'm SO PRO any sex scenes by the boys, because we've got some damn talented manipulators in this fandom, and that's just always going to end well.

So I just realized that the novel-length J2 fic I just finished (and cried at, which is a fandom first for me) and the cracked-out oneshot that is totally the hottest Sam/Dean I've read so far were written by THE SAME PERSON.

That makes me very, very happy. On the other hand, I've also discovered the Thing I Hate about the Supernatural fandom. There's always something in every fandom that pisses me the fuck off. In Pirates, it's shipper wars. In Harry Potter, it's that the fandom is too fucking big and the average fic quality is therefore low. And in Supernatural, it's that half the fans like to spend their time bitching (loudly) about how misogynistic the show is. Anyone who knows me knows my thoughts on feminism. I like to see female characters get beat up and called names and be generally not treated as well as the men. Maybe that means I'm fucked up. Still - there's no excuse for killing everyone's buzz and cluttering up the fandom with your wanking. Go off in your little corner and wank in private, mmk?
