I think I've finally identified it.

I like Gaga. Don't stan her, but think she's capable of way better than most of the crap on the radio. Was disappointed with BTW when it came out, and besides the obvious fact that it sounds like so many other songs, I couldn't quite figure out why I wasn't getting into it.

It's an ok pop song. Catchy. Decent beat. Lyrics are fine if a bit awkward in places. The problem, as I find it after many listens, is the vocal. This is a song with a message. Those vocals should be busting out of the radio and getting right up in your face, shouting "Here I am! Listen to me!" Instead, they're buried in a series of various and completely unnecessary sound effects. It's the definition of over-produced. The vocal track really isn't that strong to begin with - the conviction isn't there. Go listen to Speechless. You can hear the strength in her voice, the emotion. I don't hear it in this song, and what is there is hardly discernible anyway. And that, more than anything, is why it doesn't sound like an anthem to me.

Adam was FUCKING AMAZING, OH YES! I'm always a little nervous seeing people live for the first time - what if they secretly suck? But no worries here, because Adam was ridiculously hot and absolutely pitch-perfect, and OMG NEED MORE TOUR AGAIN SOON MMK BB?

SUPERNATURAL ANIME OMFG HOW IS THIS REAL??? Actually, it makes a lot of sense, knowing how accepting the genre is of incest. I think this could be absolutely amazing and blow a lot of people's minds, particularly those who have never given anime a try...which seems to be a depressing majority of our fandom, judging by the reaction. All I know is, SLASH PLUS YAOI MIGHT MAKE THE INTERNET EXPLODE.

Just watched the Telephone video, which was fantastic. Then I read all these comments saying, well, it was good, but omg too much product placement!

Dude. That was the whole fucking point. Is that just me? Because I totally read that as a commentary on our brand-name/pop-culture/mass-media society (as much of her music is). Product placement is when you throw something in to try and sell it. If anything, this video was doing the opposite: showing how these seemingly innocuous things could kill you.

See, the more I see of her, the more I start to think she's just an excellent satirist. She's doing with pop music what Stephen Colbert has done with right-wing cable news. She's seemingly participating in it while simultaneously condemning it.

Also, lesbian awesomeness! Anyone else wanna ship GaGa and Beyonce with me?
