Missing the point

Ok, come on people. Pay attention!

Just watched the Telephone video, which was fantastic. Then I read all these comments saying, well, it was good, but omg too much product placement!

Dude. That was the whole fucking point. Is that just me? Because I totally read that as a commentary on our brand-name/pop-culture/mass-media society (as much of her music is). Product placement is when you throw something in to try and sell it. If anything, this video was doing the opposite: showing how these seemingly innocuous things could kill you.

See, the more I see of her, the more I start to think she's just an excellent satirist. She's doing with pop music what Stephen Colbert has done with right-wing cable news. She's seemingly participating in it while simultaneously condemning it.

Also, lesbian awesomeness! Anyone else wanna ship GaGa and Beyonce with me?

I retract my statement from the car about the song. I had gotten it mixed up with "Video Phone", I think. This one I've been listening to almost non-stop since I watched the video. It's funny that people are totally missing the point. We've seen GaGa do pop culture satire in her videos/performances before, there was just more of it in this video. It's not like it's anything new! Also, it's fun and Beyoncé was pretty hot in that video. I loved the Betty Page hair. The Kill Bill references made me laugh, especially the Pussy Wagon.

woodstarling was talking on Twitter about this person who posted a rant about the video in some comm. It was completely stupid and had no valid point to offer, just a bitchy, whiny post and slightly homophobic to boot. Well, she and a couple other people ripped the rant to shreds and it was pretty fun to watch, I must say. I was going to link, but it looks like the poster deleted it or one of the mods did. My money is on the poster because she had gone back and changed stuff in her OP after people started telling her she was wrong xD
