Yarns

So, as much as I wish I could spend all my money on yarn, I really, really can't. Instead, I'm going to make a list of all the yarn I would like to try out someday. That way, when I do have money, it'll be nice and easy to pick something out.

Yarn! )

I think that covers the basics of what I want. Why must snobby yarn be so expensive? *pout*

So, I think I just need to not be allowed on Etsy. I keep seeing things like this and this that I just want.

Also, I posted a tiny video of me knitting on YouTube for a Ravelry discussion, which is hardly interesting, but I thought I'd share. I honestly had no idea I was such a minority in knitting Continental style!

Portland has a fiber arts district. I know what we'll be doing one of the days I'm there!

In other knitting news, my lovely Crushed Cranberries has not arrived yet, and I WANT IT.

I also found a great deal on needles on eBay: 15 pairs of single points and 11 pairs of double points for about $40. I'm tired of not being able to do the projects I want to just because I don't have the right size needle. The only thing I'm still lacking is a set of circulars, but as I HATE circulars, they can wait until I find something I love enough to put up with them.

Because I can't start knitting what I really want to knit until the yarn gets here, I've been casting on project after project to tide me over:

Broadripple Socks

Chunky Braided Scarf

Branching Out

I really could be finishing my Fetchings, or Coronet, or working on my Checkerboard Lapghan, but I'm not.

And you know what occurs to me after posting all those works in progress?

...I want more yarn! :-)

So, for some reason, I decided to visit Etsy tonight. I'm familiar with the site, but I hardly ever go there. This time, it must have been fate, because I saw this:

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20516541

And wow. I have never been hit with a case of yarn lust the way I was when I saw that. It's called Crushed Cranberries: 1300 yards of handpainted merino/cashmere laceweight. I was in love.

But there's more: there was exactly one skein, and it was put up for sale today - sometime within the last six hours.

I didn't stand a chance.

ETA: I think it's going to become the Meandering Vines Shawl. Link will only work for Ravelry members.
