Dec. 9th, 2009 12:45 amMad props to Rachel Maddow for her interview tonight with Richard Cohen. She's such an amazing interviewer - she's hard hitting, always going after the tough questions that people try to avoid, but she doesn't yell or harass either.
Also, I love that at one point she called him "dude."
Tonight's interview made me horribly depressed - the "kill the gays" legislation in Uganda is heart wrenching - but it also gave me hope, because with amazing, intelligent, passionate people like Rachel fighting on our side, we'll get there eventually.
I hope that when my kids grow up, they'll live in a world where they can make their own decisions about love without having to be afraid of the consequences.

Nov. 5th, 2008 09:15 amObama has won! I should have posted last night, when I was all teary and moved and hopeful and so ridiculously proud of this country that I could barely express it, but I ended up just collapsing into bed instead. I cannot even tell you how happy this makes me.
However...Prop 8 in CA looks to be passing, which is absolutely heartbreaking. I honestly hope that it's one of the last major acts of social conservatism in this nation, and that President-Elect Obama is ready to lead us into a future free of such blatant, hateful discrimination.
I was so happy and caught up in news coverage that I couldn't even properly fangirl over Jon and Stephen sitting at the same desk! I'll have to watch that again for the slashy content, when I'm not so preoccupied. :-)

I think most of us know about Prop 8, the issue in California that would revoke the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry. If you disagree, fine. But this is completely, utterly inappropriate - and I'm tempted to say downright evil.
