“Um,” Jared says awkwardly. “So – we’re really doing this, huh?”

“You mean having an actual relationship where no money is exchanged and we have a lot of awesome sex?” Jensen asks, smirking. “Yeah, we are.”

"and the complications you could do without" by [livejournal.com profile] ygrawn

Sam/Dean, NC-17 (do I ever read anything else?)

Sam immediately claps a hand over his mouth. He’s not talking to Dean. He’s not even looking at Dean and the indolent, hotter than a hot thing way he’s leaning against the bar, which was just like every other forgettable bar in America until Dean arrived and made it look like a photo shoot for the cover of Rolling Stone or a movie or something.

Sam wants a kiss. Dean won't give it to him. Drunk!Sam POV is such a pleasure to read, because there's all this truth running through his inner monologue that he would never say out loud, even drunk. This author really has a way with words, both the rambling quasi-eloquence of Sam's thoughts and the meaning-layered simplicity of Sam and Dean's dialogue.

"Taken I Am Yours" by [livejournal.com profile] ladybugkay

QaF/SPN crossover, Dean/Brian, NC-17

Dean’s hair is really more brown than blonde, his eyes are green, he’s as tall as Brian is, and his ass is gorgeous in a way that isn’t familiar at all. And Brian is tired of look-alikes and fantasy fucks.

He’s tired of being ‘Brian Kinney, for fuck’s sake.’

Why? Because can you think of a hotter crossover pairing than Dean/Brian? I didn't think so. This is hot and beautiful at the same time, and both characters are written very nicely. I love how the author doesn't let you forget who these boys should really be with, not for a minute, despite the hotness of putting them together.

(OMG look at my mad new html skillz! Meaning, I finally got off my ass and looked up the tags for links and users that everyone else has been using for years now. Damn, I'm lazy.)

"Last Outpost of All That Is" by b stearns

Supernatural, Sam/Dean

Winchesters were built for world-endings.

This is a new fic genre for me: apocalypse!fic. Which seems to be quite common in this fandom, actually. I've barely started it and it's already completely fabulous. There's a difference between fic that is just good and fic that is excellent - as in, publishable quality - and you can pretty much tell within a paragraph or two which it is. This is excellent.

Sam/Dean, NC-17

Sam flipped over and stared at the ceiling. Dean looked up at it too, trying to think of something to say. Winchesters did not fail. At anything. Certainly not at sex. Fuck.

Amazing characterization and hilarious to boot. Go read!

So I just realized that the novel-length J2 fic I just finished (and cried at, which is a fandom first for me) and the cracked-out oneshot that is totally the hottest Sam/Dean I've read so far were written by THE SAME PERSON.

She is now my favorite author ever. Go check her out: http://fleshflutter.livejournal.com/profile

That makes me very, very happy. On the other hand, I've also discovered the Thing I Hate about the Supernatural fandom. There's always something in every fandom that pisses me the fuck off. In Pirates, it's shipper wars. In Harry Potter, it's that the fandom is too fucking big and the average fic quality is therefore low. And in Supernatural, it's that half the fans like to spend their time bitching (loudly) about how misogynistic the show is. Anyone who knows me knows my thoughts on feminism. I like to see female characters get beat up and called names and be generally not treated as well as the men. Maybe that means I'm fucked up. Still - there's no excuse for killing everyone's buzz and cluttering up the fandom with your wanking. Go off in your little corner and wank in private, mmk?

Dude. If you are AT ALL into fandom, go read this entry RIGHT NOW:

Ok, I did seven instead of five - I couldn't choose!

DEAR GOD WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS MUSICAL???

*calms*

Ok, so it's called Elisabeth, and it's in German. I really don't know why I didn't look further into foreign language musicals after you showed me that French one, Manda, but I didn't. This one totally makes me wish I had!

Why I like it, having seen all of two songs of the thing:

Hot guy plays Death.

Death seduces a girl: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=4aUQ75rIEfc
Death seduces a guy: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=ihwHC8xCTnc

Death is incredibly, incredibly sexy and quite a good singer as well, plus he totally has a David Bowie vibe going on.

I would SO give in, if confronted by this incarnation of Death. *grin*

I desperately want this on DVD, but as best as I can tell, it would cost me about 50 bucks with the dollar being so damn weak right now. *sigh*

ETA: And just when I thought I'd seen the best of this guy, here he is in another musical playing a gay vampire in love with a vampire hunter (are you KIDDING ME? I was obviously born in the wrong country!): http://youtube.com/watch?v=lSChnQ2aDE8

^^make sure you watch this one to the end!

What I have learned from watching Ouran High School Host Club:

EVERYONE LOVES TWINCEST.

I'm serious. I've been watching cosplays from the show, and every single one is the twins totally slashing it up onstage to the overjoyed screaming of the fans.

This makes me incredibly happy, for some reason. :-D

So I'm watching old episodes of The Daily Show on the Comedy Central website. And man, 1999 Jon Stewart is...rather pathetically adorable. I just want to hug him and say, it's ok, no one noticed you struggling through that laugh-free interview, I promise! It's amazing how much he's improved over the years. It's almost sad to love an ongoing TV show so much, because I'm going to be pretty crushed when it ends.

Also, the headlines in '99 seem awfully naive compared to today. I mean, all that uproar about the whole Monica Lewinsky thing? You watch it today, and it's nothing. It seems ridiculous after everything Bush put the country through. You know?

The best clip I've come across so far:

The series at the top of the page is awesome but depressing. The stuff at the bottom is just as awesome and much more lighthearted.
