You guys should see me right now.
I haven't set up my for-serious writing environment in a long time. Fanfic is quick and dirty most of the time, and I can usually bust it out sitting on the couch in front of the TV.
Not so with my Big Bang. It's hard, and so tonight I decided to really try and get into the flow of it, knock out a couple thousand words in a sitting. To give myself the best chance of doing that, I've pulled all my tricks out of the bag.
I'm sitting at the dining room table with my laptop. Usually I would go to my desktop for serious writing, but that room is too cold to use this time of year. On my right side I have a bottle of water and a giant cup of peppermint tea - I tend to drink a lot when I write. On my left is one lit candle - the scent is called "autumn leaves," and the flame flickers just out of direct view, just enough to keep me from focusing in too hard on the words. Music is playing, one track on repeat, something instrumental and smooth, but not boring - just what my brain needs to put it in the mood to play.
Now I just have to hope it works.
