sulwenSo Glam Nation is over, having ended triumphantly in two fantastic LA shows. Adam fandom is probably going to be a little quiet for a while - or, at least, quieter.
I've seen a lot of people ask "What do we do now?" So, me being the caring and generous person I am, I've decided to start working on a little bit of a fandom primer. Being a multi-fandom person is a great thing! Adam takes well-deserved breaks, TV shows go on hiatus, there are years in between the release of new movies or books in a series. It's awesome to be able to bounce around to where the activity is. And hey, having more than one fandom means always having new fic to read!
Ok, enough of me rambling. Here we go. Today, I'm talking about my favorite TV show and fandom ever: Supernatural.
Supernatural is an American TV show, currently in its sixth season. It's about two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, who hunt and kill supernatural creatures - and eventually get mixed up in the affairs of heaven, hell, and more. The show is exciting, funny, violent, emotional, suspenseful, and deeply addictive. The relationship between Sam and Dean is wonderfully written - you might fall in love with one or both of them individually, but you will DEFINITELY fall in love with the two of them as a duo.
Supernatural has the single largest, most active, and most passionate fandom I have ever witnessed. This fandom also has a reputation for wank and drama that is, sadly, well-deserved. Alongside that, though, are absolutely the most amazing writers out there. The fic here is astoundingly good, and there's more of it than could ever be read in a single lifetime. And that doesn't even begin to talk about the artists, the vidders, and the rest of it - all top-notch!
There are two main branches of SPN fandom. One is based on the fictional characters in the show, primarily Sam, Dean, and Castiel (an angel who first appears in season four). The other is based on the actors who play them: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins, respectively. Though I love both Castiel and Misha, my time in the fandom has been spent mostly shipping Sam/Dean (Wincest) and Jared/Jensen (J2), and my recs will favor those pairings.

spnnewsletter - a daily newsletter of new activity in the fandom. Just a glance at this will show you just how active the fandom is!
crack_impala - a daily fic rec community. They do themed days - for example, Monday is gen fic day, and Sunday is Sam/Dean porn day. The recs here are INCREDIBLY high quality. As I've spent more time in other fandoms, this has become a priceless resource, keeping me from missing anything truly stellar.
ontd_spnparty - this is a great community for general discussion. They post news and spoilers, as well as weekly party posts and watch posts for the show. Everything's kept really funny and mostly wank-free, and I swear you'll find the best gifs anywhere!
blindfold_spn - my favorite of the various SPN kinkmemes. It's not running all the time - instead, there are a few weeks out of the year where they open it up for a frenzy of kinkiness. You may have heard about SPN's reputation for being really fucking kinky. This is where you'll see the evidence of that. I adore the place!
SPN fic recs:
Last Outpost of All There Is - Sam/Dean, NC-17. Novel-length post-apocalyptic fic. Meticulously researched and beautifully written. Possibly my favorite fic of all time.
Do I Seem Bulletproof to You? - Jared/Jensen, NC-17. Novel-length AU - Jensen is a high-class prostitute, Jared gets hired as his new bodyguard. This is by one of my favorite fic authors ever,![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
fleshflutter. All her work is amazing, but this is my favorite.
Kings and Queens and Jokers, Too - Sam/Dean. If you're at all an Adam/Tommy fan, you recognize the name Astolat. She writes amazing SPN fic, and this one is excellent - hilarious and adorable and amazing! This is a shorter fic, just in case you don't wanna dive into the longfic right away.
have you seen him whom my soul loves - Jared/Jensen, NC-17. Novel-length AU - small-town priest Jensen and mechanic Jared. Heart-wrenching and beautiful and perfect. I also HIGHLY recommend the excellent podfic of this.
IDK, my BFF Jensen - Jared/Jensen, NC-17. I felt like I should include some non-AU, so here's an AWESOME little story about the boys texting. I LOVE it!
I Wanna Hold You 'Til I Die - Sam/Dean, NC-17. Dean gets hit with a curse that removes all his inhibitions. Hilarity and hotness ensue!

Also, to any and all people reading the comments: the Blindfold is heavy duty sort of kinky. We have differentiated tabs for incest. So, just... be careful. I'm pretty resilient, I've been around for a while and still managed to freak myself out.
