IT'S OCTOBER, YAAAAY!!!
My favorite month, by far. Leaves changing, nice cool weather, fall festivals, Halloween...and oh yeah, my wedding anniversary!
It's also one month until NaNoWriMo! I love NaNo with all my heart, and October has been my dreaming/planning month for NaNo for years now. I'm definitely starting to feel the itch to work on original fiction again, which is awesome. I love writing fanfic, but unfortunately, it doesn't do much to advance my potential career. SO YAY ORIGINAL!
One day, you're gonna walk into a bookstore and see my book on the shelves...or at least be able to find it online somewhere. If I've learned nothing else from Adam, he's shown me that with enough hard work and determination, you really can achieve your dreams.

Date: 2010-10-01 06:04 pm (UTC)And you definitely shouldn't lose your optimism and enthusiasm. It's not unlikely to publish your own book. And if I read some books that are already in the bookstores ... well, you're writing is better than that!
Btw., my mom needs to become 65 years old and go through a cancer surgery to have the guts to write her first "book". It was just some short stories, but she gave it to us, her children, as Christmas presents in 2007. And you know what the first line in that book was? "I always wanted to be a writer".
Last year we got another book from her for Christmas, it was her memoires! I broke out in tears when I read it. So many things in there I didn't know about my mom. She doesn't publish what she writes, she doesn't make money, but she doesn't want that. All she ever wanted was writing. And you see, it's never too late. :)
So, if you want to write - DO IT! And I'm sure you'll publish and maybe even sell one of your books some day! Believe in yourself! So many people in fandom, me included, enjoy your writing. I'm sure many others would do too!

Date: 2010-10-01 06:24 pm (UTC)I'm really excited about NaNo too! Not sure if I'm doing original or fanfic this time, I've done both.
With regards to the publishing thing, not sure if you know him but
He's in the process of putting out another book (non-fiction this time) and made a post explaining his process on the editing side of it (http://copperbadge.livejournal.com/3109069.html). I highly recommend going through his posts on the subject (the tags are really useful), it's very informative. Plus he's funny :D
