There's a post here about the top ten celebrities written into fanfiction. Clearly, whoever was doing this research does not actually know shit about fandom.

Here's their list:

01. Taylor Lautner
02. Selena Gomez
03. Chace Crawford
04. Megan Fox
05. Ian Somerhalder
06. Dakota Fanning
07. Ashley Greene
08. Logan Lerman
09. Taylor Swift
10. Zac Efron

Umm...WHAT? I don't even know who half of those people ARE, and I definitely haven't seen them in fic. Ever.

I mean, MAYBE if you restricted your search to ff.net, but still. What about all these people?

- Jensen Ackles
- Jared Padalecki
- Adam Lambert
- Kris Allen
- Zachary Quinto
- Chris Pine
- Bradley James
- Colin Morgan
- Orlando Bloom
- Viggo Mortensen
- Pretty much the entire rest of the cast of LotR
- Johnny Depp
- Robert Downey Jr
- ALL OF BANDOM, FOR GOD'S SAKE!

Also, LOL at all the fandom outsiders commenting on the post at ONTD. Christ, what do you even DO with LJ if you're not in fandom?

According to WattPad
Jeez, what the hell is WattPad? I guess it's a place for tweens, which is what that list would suggest. The author of the article could have gotten better results by checking at least the number of Google hits.

Well, my initial guess was going to be "maybe they just mean real people inserted into existing fandoms that are not the ones they're associated with (e.g. random Taylor Lautner in a Harry Potter fic, say)?", but then I went and checked the original article that ONTD quoted from. Their entire sample: pulled from a site called WattPad, which, uh. Even apart from seeming to self-select a younger audience (based on current content and thus the people who'd read said current content, as well as the tone of their FAQ and content policy), there's a 'no porn' rule. Anyway, also from the general tone of the site, I rather doubt slash would be entirely welcome.

Dear People Who Wrote That Article: sample size and breadth fail.

(Incidentally, though, I had my LJ for something like three and a half years before I ever started reading fanfic, so... there are such people on LJ? I have no idea how you exist on LJ without ever having heard of it, though, or whatever.)

You probably just do what I did for my first few years of LJ-having-ness and those were some boring entries. LJ is way more interesting when you have fandom or even just *interests* to share with other people and read about.

And, ew, Megan Fox needs to DIAF.
