Also, felt like reposting my reply to one of the latest fandom secrets:

I'm sorry. I promise that I'm not trying to be special or cool. I'm just being true to myself. Most girls and women, in real life and in fiction, just piss me off. I do not find them interesting or worthy of respect in any way. I feel this way about many men as well, but it seems to occur more often with members of my own gender. There are a few exceptions, and I hang onto those amazing women for dear life. But I'm absolutely not going to force myself to like or appreciate something or someone I don't just for the sake of a cause or a belief. That's not freedom, let alone feminism.

I saw the secret you're referencing. She's getting it a bit wrong, I think. I don't see anything wrong in not liking a female character if you don't think she's interesting/well written/etc, it's the same for a male character. And it's true, many female characters just lack interesting points. It's being bigoted to only like a female character just because you're a girl. There are just as many women who act stupid or are total bitch monsters from hell and you don't have to like them. That's your choice and that's what it's all about, isn't it? The feminists that I know don't prefer women to men, they accept them as equals. Many of them prefer the term "egalitarian" to "feminist" due to its connotation as preferring one gender to the other.

So yeah, there's my little piece on gender and fandom. On that note - OMFG YAY FIFTH SEASON!!! I choose to celebrate with my incredibly hot Sam icon.
