I made a new icon. I came across this quote on one of the old NaNo forums, and it just struck me as beautiful. I think it's pretty good for plain old Paint. It makes me long for fall, that magical chill in the air, hot cider, the smell of leaves...it's writing weather. I wish it wasn't still July.
On a side note, does anyone else remember when ff.net was good? When most of the fic there was rated NC-17 and you had to click a little approval box to read each chapter and it was mostly GOOD? Because I do, and though LJ is an infinitely better vehicle for fanfiction, I kind of miss the good old days of ff.net. Maybe it's just because that's where I started. I don't know. But I feel like fewer and fewer people in fandom even remember that, and it makes me feel old.

Date: 2008-07-23 01:25 pm (UTC)I totally remember that time!!! I was so pissed when they changed it over because some stupid kids messed it all up for us. Hey, I read NC17 when I was underage and didn't fucking tell my parents about it or let them find out. I KNEW how to hide my shit on the computer. FF.net was where I read some of my first non-X-Files fics. TXF still has a pretty good site for all their fic called The Gossamer Project. That's where I read my very first NC17 back in 1999, I think, maybe 2000. And FF.net used to have real people fic and those funny lists people would make about fandom obsession.
The only thing I do like about the new set up is that, in a lot of big fandoms, you can search by two characters. That's about it. But on LJ, as long as the entries are tagged properly, you can just follow the tags.
