Honestly, I was going to rate this down a point for having a rather slow and meandering first half - that is, until the ending shattered my heart. This book is wickedly clever, with beautifully drawn characters and a real knack for making you feel what those characters are feeling. All I can say is this: there better fucking be a sequel, and it better fucking resolve what happened at the end of this book.

No, though it certainly would have been possible if I hadn't spent half the day finishing The Elegant Universe. I read the first half of Red Seas about a month ago and read the second half, about 300 pages, last night. I've been sick this weekend with not much else to do.
