Absolutely AWESOME episode, though...I loved everything about it! The Sam and Dean-ness of it! Epic amounts of backstory! Ash! PAMELA! Trippy mind-trip of trippiness! Adorable Dean/little!Sam and Dean/Mary scenes!

LOVED IT. I feel like NOW we're really back!

ETA - A theory someone else's reaction made me think of: I think that Sam's memories were being specifically chosen by Zach to hurt Dean. That's what this whole episode was about - trying to crush Dean's last bit of faith and hope, destroying his will to continue to resist. Of course Sam has awesome and happy memories with Dean...but Zach didn't want him to see those.

That makes sense, right? RIGHT???
