I love this promo pic because of the scale - Sam and Dean are involved in something much bigger than themselves this season, and in this pic they look so small next to the building behind them. In most pics, especially promo pics, they take up almost the whole frame, but not here. Very cool.



Not that I don't love the gratuitously beautiful promo shots as well - yay boys in suits!

I have a theory. I think I might have read it or something like it somewhere else, but I'm going to present it here anyway.

The boys wear RIDICULOUS amounts of layers. Look:



Dean. That is THREE SHIRTS, not even including the jacket I know you have around somewhere.

So here's my theory. The Winchester boys have so much natural sexual magnetism that they must keep themselves draped in as many layers of clothing as possible. Otherwise, they will have people throwing themselves at them at all times. Not only that, but in some crazy twist of fate, they have opposite charges, so that if they ever are in a room shirtless or - heaven help us - naked together, they'll instantly be compelled to fuck like bunnies. Therefore, in order to live some semblance of normal lives and get some damn work done: layers.

And I'm actually going to end on something kind of serious. I think this pic really encapsulates Dean as a character for me. He's trying to put on a tough-guy face, but see how he's kind of curled in on himself a tiny bit, almost defensively? That's Dean, just exactly. At least, for me.
