SPN mytharc ramblings
Apr. 9th, 2009 07:01 amSo I just rewatched Mystery Spot, my all-time favorite episode. Excellent writing, great performances by both boys, really funny moments, and heartwrenching tragedy. It's a perfect forty minutes of TV.
What struck me this time around, though, was exactly what the Trickster said to Sam, something to the effect of: nothing good comes of this tendency to sacrifice youselves for each other. It's your weakness, and the bad guys know it. It's gonna be the death of you.
With recent developments in S4, it seems the Trickster knew what he was talking about. If it han't been for John's sacrifice for Dean and Dean's for Sam, the first seal wouldn't have been broken.
Now it's Sam's turn to do the sacrificing, going along very dark paths in order to protect Dean. I wonder - is this what the Trickster meant when he said it would be the death of Sam?
Interesting stuff. I'm very impressed with Kripke & Co. for bringing it all together so well. I honestly wasn't expecting that.
