None of my favorite communities have been effected by the Great LJ Purge of '07, but I really feel for those that were. It bothers me that so much effort, so much time could be erased forever with the push of a button. Fandom is strong, I know, and will survive anything, but it's terrible that something like this could have happened due to the actions of a group of fanatics that obviously didn't know what they were doing and didn't care how many innocent people got hurt. I'm always disappointed when anything like this happens, but I guess some things are just too good to last. Whenever something gets big enough to be effective, someone comes in and ruins it.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a decent news story on the situation: http://news.com.com/Mass+deletion+sparks+LiveJournal+revolt/2100-1025_3-6187619.html?tag=item
My heart goes out to those fans who lost their comms. I hope they find a new home soon.
