So, how about this week's House? Is it just me, or did they seriously just turn the slash dial up to eleven? I'm actually going to be disappointed if they don't end up making out, because this season just seems like it's GOING THERE.

Also - YAY A WILSON EPISODE! *smooshes him*

ETA: After a moment of browsing the House/Wilson comm...no, it wasn't just me. And apparently, next week's episode is supposed to top this one? I don't see HOW, but...now I want it to be next Monday now, please! *waits impatiently*

So I'm rewarding myself with some TV time after my thrilling and exhausting NaNo victory. I watched a couple of episodes of Doctor Who S3, and then I decided to browse around Netflix for a bit to see if they'd added anything new to the instant watch lately. I noticed that they'd added S1 of Xena, and as I've never seen it, I watched the first episode.

All I can say is wow.

I love cheese. The cheesier the better - Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I'm a Buffy fanatic. But Xena? Man, that show takes cheesy to a whole new level! It's like they're not even trying for any sort of realism - they just thought it would be fun to play dress up and run around New Zealand like Greek warriors for a while.

Honestly, I can't decide whether I like it or not. I laughed. I was entertained. I didn't hate either of the main characters, which is kind of shocking for me because they're both female. So I suppose I did like it.

And that brings me to the slash. Oh yeah - y'all are right. It's WAY slashy. And honestly, it would be really nice to have a femslash pairing that actually had some canon support - you don't see that often enough. I'm very tempted to keep watching for that reason alone. I really do love me some femslash, but it's so rare to get two strong female characters who have chemistry with each other and are not entirely defined by their relationships with the male characters that I hardly have any ships. Yeah. I'm gonna have to keep watching.

Oh yes. My level of geek never ceases to amaze me.

Angsty J2 breakup fic just made me cry. Literally. Cry.

Caught up on all (important) shows. WIN.

Latest Merlin was sweet and sad and I liked it quite a lot.

Latest House was sad and (kind of in a way) shippy and had only one or two awesome parts, but they were worth it.

I really should not read more than one [livejournal.com profile] fandom_secrets post at a time, because my tolerance for wank is not that high.

Apparently there's going to be a book about SPN fandom. I have mixed feelings on this.

In work-related news, I am scheduled thirty parties in twenty days next month. I also have only three days off in that stretch of twenty.

Also, I am almost 10k behind on my NaNo. Damn you, ChiCon, for getting me behind! (Not really, bb, I lurve you and am super sad you're over, hugs&kisses)

*sleepy Sarah should probably not post when sleepy as her writing ability kind of goes to shit, and for this she apologizes*

ETA: Random internet rumors about Jared and Gen are annoying me. Can't we all just mind our own business until something official comes out, if it ever does? *angry eyes*

Ok, so I've been watching Torchwood for the first time.

For the first three episodes, it was ok, entertaining, nothing THAT special.

Then, suddenly, in episode four, it became one of the BEST THINGS EVER.

*bows down to the slash gods*

It's actually kind of refreshing to watch a show I really don't care about after the intense experience that is SPN lately.

I'm only here for the pretty... )

Ok, so now I'm imagining what the CW people told the actors who play Stefan and Damon about what to expect if the show was a success. "Yeah, you've heard of this fanfiction thing, right? And we're putting you right next to Supernatural...better be ready!"

Blogging as I go during my second watch. My first viewing was too emotional to properly comment on. And yes, I know that makes me a bit too invested. I'm willing to live with that.

Show is three out of three for good episodes this year, at least for me personally. Keep it up, boys!

All in all, amazing. This episode transcends where I ever thought the show would go. Kudos to them for doing something different and brave - hopefully, the rest of the season will be worthy of the premiere.
sulwen: (bloody)
Yes. More. Apparently I am trading sleep for TV these days.

Short and sweet )

Wow. I'm going to have to keep watching this show, aren't I, just for the five to ten minutes of Damon/Stefan I'll get each week. Makes you really appreciate how much Sam/Dean we get on a regular basis, doesn't it?
sulwen: (fandom whore)
Has anyone ever watched the BBC version of Robin Hood? I've heard very mixed things about it, and I'd like to know if it's worth watching...

Spoilers and squee ahead! )

Dude, that was a KICK-ASS premiere! I hope the rest of the season is up to that standard, because if so: YAY.

Time left: 2 hours 27 minutes. Yikes.

Watched the replays of both Vampire Diaries and Glee tonight.

Vampire Diaries is pretty much suck except for Damon, who is both pretty and evil - always a winning combination. Stefan (is that how we're spelling it?) isn't nearly as pretty, but he's still not bad to look at, and come on - hot vampire brothers. You all know how much I'm down with the incest. I might have to watch the show just for their scenes together. And it is very, very slashy already. I think fully half of Damon's lines tonight were commenting on how good Stefan looked. Apparently, CW decided that fraternal supernatural incest is a winning combination for them.

Glee was just as awesome as the first episode - funny, interesting, fast-paced. I will definitely be watching more!

First of all, thank you guys for the comments yesterday. They helped.

Now then. I haven't been watching American Idol this season, pretty much because I work Tuesday and Wednesday nights. But my Mom claims I would absolutely love this Adam guy that's still in, so I decided to see if I could find a place to watch from the beginning online.

I have watched literally one half of one episode and I'm already shipping Paula/Kara (is it Kara or Cara?). They are SO FLIRTY, it's amazing. I doubt they'll match up to Simon and Ryan in slash potential (because those boys are totally fucking, no joke), but we shall see.

On the off chance...fic recs? Anyone? Bueller?

ETA: Know why I love Simon so much? Because he is the real life Snape. TRUFAX.

TV Meme

Empire Magazine has revealed its list of the 50 Greatest TV Shows ever:

1. Bold the shows you watch/used to watch.
2. Italic the shows you've seen at least one episode of.
3. Post your answers.

Two things:

One, I felt the categories of this meme overlapped a bit. I took it to mean that the bold ones are shows I'm attached to and would definitely watch if they were on, and the italicized ones are those I've just kind of seen and don't particularly care for as much or just haven't seen as much.

Two, six of the shows I haven't seen are currently in my Netflix queue. So I'm getting there. Though there are some of these I certainly never ever plan to see (24? Seriously?)

Leonard hesitated. "Listen, do you think Sheldon might be... you know, gay?"

There was a loud `thunk!' as Howard set down his screwdriver. "Did he finally hit on you?"

"Because I figured this was coming. That boy is so far in the closet that he's seeing Narnia."

Know what word I love?

Because I know exactly the feeling it's meant to describe, and it's the perfect word for it.

In other news, I've been watching The Office. I'd never seen it before, but we got NetFlix instant watch through our Xbox recently, and so I thought I'd give it a shot. It's fantastic. It's been years since I was this into a canon het couple. Seriously. I'm so infatuated with Jim and Pam's storyline that I don't even want to look for other pairings (not that there would really be any, for me at least). I know, I'm late to this party...but I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

So I believe it was [livejournal.com profile] deeper_shallow who recommended Profit to me after reading my list of 20 Hottest Fictional Characters.

After watching the first half of the pilot on YouTube, all I can say is thank you. I mean, it's completely cheesy in that 90s sort of way, but Adrian is wonderful as the title character.

God, that scene where she was dreaming about him choking her up against the wall...that was fantastic. I want that dream!

Ah, and his lovely, lovely voice...deep and gravely and just so damn sincere, even - especially - when he's lying.

And he's so deliciously touchy-feely, going after people when they're vulnerable and just slipping in past their defences. Brilliant.

Yay for two new shows in one night!

Now if only my knitting would behave itself...
