If you wish to post this in your journal, it's been requested that you title it "I'm afraid of _ out of 72 common fears".

If you get more than 30, I strongly recommend some counseling.
If you get more than 20, you’re paranoid.
If you get 10-20, you are normal.
If you get 10 or less, you’re fearless.
People who don’t have any are liars.

There are many meanings behind the word fae, and it is imperative to know them well and not confuse one for another, especially when wandering in the deep places of the world...especially when wandering under the full-born strangeness of the moon.

The above-fae name themselves the Court of a Thousand Dewdrops, so named for that fleeting morning moment when the sun catches the wet of the night and makes it shine, just before the heat of the day burns it away.

The below-fae find this ridiculous. If they call themselves anything, it is only the Many or the Multitude, as they outnumber the above-fae a hundred to one, their penchant for orgies spreading their kind up and down the land in an inexorable tide.

Humankind has a different meaning altogether for fae. They know not of what they speak, only that the word brings a vision of ethereal beauty to their minds, something much-desired and always just out of reach.

This is the tale of the rift between the Court and the Many – the rift, and those who dared cross it.

I think I've finally identified it.

I like Gaga. Don't stan her, but think she's capable of way better than most of the crap on the radio. Was disappointed with BTW when it came out, and besides the obvious fact that it sounds like so many other songs, I couldn't quite figure out why I wasn't getting into it.

It's an ok pop song. Catchy. Decent beat. Lyrics are fine if a bit awkward in places. The problem, as I find it after many listens, is the vocal. This is a song with a message. Those vocals should be busting out of the radio and getting right up in your face, shouting "Here I am! Listen to me!" Instead, they're buried in a series of various and completely unnecessary sound effects. It's the definition of over-produced. The vocal track really isn't that strong to begin with - the conviction isn't there. Go listen to Speechless. You can hear the strength in her voice, the emotion. I don't hear it in this song, and what is there is hardly discernible anyway. And that, more than anything, is why it doesn't sound like an anthem to me.

On Fandom

I love fandom. I love it in the general sense, the basic idea of people with a common interest coming together in the spirit of community and creativity. I've been in many fandoms over the past 10+ years, and I've seen a lot. I've seen talent and joy, love and support. I've also seen drama and wank and hatefulness. It's always going to be a mixed bag - that's just life. But I do think that there are some basic truths to what we do that apply to everyone, and sometimes people need to be reminded.

I don't profess to be in charge of anything, and what I say here is my opinion alone. Take it or leave it as you see fit.

You will also notice that fandom, for me, is ALWAYS about fic at heart. Adam fandom seems to be quite an anomaly in this respect, and some of what I've seen there is what inspired me to make this post.

I started talking about gay porn on twitter, which resulted in a whole bunch of requests for "LINKS PLEASE?"

So...come share links, my friends!

You guys should see me right now.

I haven't set up my for-serious writing environment in a long time. Fanfic is quick and dirty most of the time, and I can usually bust it out sitting on the couch in front of the TV.

Not so with my Big Bang. It's hard, and so tonight I decided to really try and get into the flow of it, knock out a couple thousand words in a sitting. To give myself the best chance of doing that, I've pulled all my tricks out of the bag.

I'm sitting at the dining room table with my laptop. Usually I would go to my desktop for serious writing, but that room is too cold to use this time of year. On my right side I have a bottle of water and a giant cup of peppermint tea - I tend to drink a lot when I write. On my left is one lit candle - the scent is called "autumn leaves," and the flame flickers just out of direct view, just enough to keep me from focusing in too hard on the words. Music is playing, one track on repeat, something instrumental and smooth, but not boring - just what my brain needs to put it in the mood to play.

Now I just have to hope it works.

Bid on me!

Hello, my dear friends!

As you may or may not be aware, Adam's raising money for a great organization called charity: water for his 29th birthday. I'm more than happy to offer up my services as a writer to help boost donations - every little bit helps!

All you have to do is go to the [ profile] hooplamagnet charity post and reply to my comment with your bid. If you win, you donate that amount to charity: water, send me a screenshot to prove you did it, and I'll write a fic for you, based on your prompt.

People are always asking me to write their ideas. Here's your chance!

Hoopla charity post, with my offer in the comments

Here, have a random assortment of sort of sex-related questions. I may do another one if I can think of more.

Hello, friends!

Basically, I've decided to lock up my RPS. I struggled with this decision for a long time, because I know that I get annoyed by locked fic too. But what it comes down to is this: I write fanfic for fun, and if I'm not comfortable posting it openly anymore, it's not gonna be fun and most likely not happen at all. I want to make clear that nothing specific has happened to prompt this decision. It's something I've been thinking about for a while, and finally I just decided to do it.

But never fear! All you have to do to get to the fic is go to my new journal, [ profile] edged_glass, and comment on the first post to be added. I've transferred everything already. The only thing I didn't repost was my Labyrinth AU, as that's not finished and I really shouldn't have started posting it anyway until it was done. It'll be back.

Alternately, you can view most of my fic at under the name Sulwen. I would prefer to lock this down also, but unless they ever get out of beta and enable open membership, I just don't feel right doing that.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but hopefully this will work out better for everyone - all my fic will be in one place, and this journal will go back to being about random other things. Much better than mixing the two.

Thanks guys, for reading this and for reading in general, as well as for all your amazing comments!

I just put up the new round at [ profile] glam_kink! Go prompt, bitches! :D

So Glam Nation is over, having ended triumphantly in two fantastic LA shows. Adam fandom is probably going to be a little quiet for a while - or, at least, quieter.

I've seen a lot of people ask "What do we do now?" So, me being the caring and generous person I am, I've decided to start working on a little bit of a fandom primer. Being a multi-fandom person is a great thing! Adam takes well-deserved breaks, TV shows go on hiatus, there are years in between the release of new movies or books in a series. It's awesome to be able to bounce around to where the activity is. And hey, having more than one fandom means always having new fic to read!

Ok, enough of me rambling. Here we go. Today, I'm talking about my favorite TV show and fandom ever: Supernatural.

I'll be doing more fandom primers in the next weeks, I think. I hope someone out there finds them helpful!

This article is beautifully takes a lot of what's in my head about Adam and spells it all out on the page. Read it. You'll be glad you did.

Know what would be nice? If Twitter would load for me. I wanna talk to people and chat about boys and rage over Rand Paul and unf over those new J2 pics and now I just feel lonely. *pout*

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

And remember, NOTHING is taboo, absolutely nothing! (In fact, the jucier the better! :D )

I am not shy, so don't ask unless you really wanna know!
sulwen: (roles)
Whee, it's a post about Other Things! And it's going to be boring and get no comments, like how my journal used to be all the time! *nostalgic*

Pep talk time.

Hey Sarah! You should probably, at some point, you know, pull your head out of fandom and like, deal with other shit. Like bill-paying. And laundry. You know. That stuff. Let's make a list!

This is of no interest to anyone but me. Move along, move along. )

And then, once you start making progress on all that, you can play with fandom some more, mmk? Mmk.

Hello, friends. I'm kind of in a creative downswing at the moment, which I knew was coming, though I was hoping it wouldn't happen until the end of the tour. I probably won't be writing anything new for a while. I do have several fics that need to be formatted and brought over here from other places (Twitfic, fic meme stuff), though, so there will still be stuff posted over the next few days.

I do want to mention that I don't crosspost all my fic, so if you feel so inclined, check out my fic index to see if you've missed anything.

Love you guys. Hopefully my muse will enjoy her vacation and come back better than ever.

Hi there! Trimmed my flist a little today - no offense is meant to anyone, of course! My interests have just shifted a bit over the past months, and I don't spend as much time as I used to in certain corners of LJ.

Still much love for you all! :)
