There are many meanings behind the word fae, and it is imperative to know them well and not confuse one for another, especially when wandering in the deep places of the world...especially when wandering under the full-born strangeness of the moon.

The above-fae name themselves the Court of a Thousand Dewdrops, so named for that fleeting morning moment when the sun catches the wet of the night and makes it shine, just before the heat of the day burns it away.

The below-fae find this ridiculous. If they call themselves anything, it is only the Many or the Multitude, as they outnumber the above-fae a hundred to one, their penchant for orgies spreading their kind up and down the land in an inexorable tide.

Humankind has a different meaning altogether for fae. They know not of what they speak, only that the word brings a vision of ethereal beauty to their minds, something much-desired and always just out of reach.

This is the tale of the rift between the Court and the Many – the rift, and those who dared cross it.
